Mental Health Month 2020
May 14, 2020
Research shows it can take 50 hours for someone you don't know that well to turn into a true friend.
Typically, Americans watch an average of 2 1/2 hours of TV per day during the week, but only spend half an hour per day socializing.
Our TV time is likely even more right now because of the coronavirus, but we can still connect virtually with people.
The number of friendships you have early in your adult life and the closeness of those relationships can influence your wellbeing 30 years later, according to research.
Tips for connecting with others:
- Organize activities.
- Pay attention to what interests others.
- Accept invitations.
- Not all connections have to be in person.
- Make time to be social.
- Give genuine compliments.
- Talk about shared experiences.
